Black Tech Conferences You Should Know About This Fall

As you probably know. by now, the tech industry has been one of the most prominent and profitable industries in the world for some time now, and it hasn’t historically been the most Black. However, today’s tech industry is filled with Black faces and many of them own and/or hold powerful positions at incredibly successful companies. For those interested in tech, here’s a list of 3 tech conferences you should know about coming this fall.

#1. THRIVE Conference Presented by BLK Men in Tech (October 13th– 16th)

BLK Men in Tech is bringing their first annual THRIVE Conference to Fort Lauderdale, Florida! The THRIVE Conference is a 4-day tech conference was created for those who want to connect, learn, and grow in their pursuit in starting or advancing their tech career. Furthermore, while this event is for techies of all kinds, it simultaneously provides specific insight into the Black male experience in tech.

This in-person experience is something you want to be a part of whether it’s the Tech Talk sessions with executives or life changing recruitment opportunities with notable brands, you’ll want to be in the room!

THRIVE will also feature a number of notable speakers including hip-hop producer and college professor 9th Wonder, CEO of Shipt Kamau Witherspoon, Microsoft recruiter Ashley Parker, and many more. You can check out the full roster of speakers at the official BLK Men in Tech website.

#2. Black Professionals In Tech Network (October 19th-21st, 2022)

The Black Professionals In Tech Network (BPTN) is back and in full swing with the 2022 BFUTR Global Tech Summit! Hosted live in Toronto by actor Trevor Noah this year, the coveted event is sure to also bring in a vast number of on-line viewers (the summit will be live streamed by and is projected to eclipse its largest-ever showing of over 20,000 attendees at last year’s virtual summit. 

In addition to being one of the most popular and successful conferences of its kind, the panel is mixing up the activities this year. A bit more variety has been added, such as a record 60+ featured corporate partners and a special after-show performance by hip-hop heavyweight Rick Ross. While general admission is free, there are also VIP passes available if you want the full experience of this celebrated event.

Most notably, unlike other normal tech conferences, the OBSIDI Academy (an online educational program) is offered as an added bonus to help up-and-coming tech professionals gain more knowledge and proficiency in their desired fields of choice. Win-win!

#2. Women In Tech Summit (October 20-21st, 2022)

Hey tech girls! Whether you want to be a coder, web developer, IT guru, a self-made boss, or ALL the above the annual virtual Women In Tech Summit (WITS) features a bit of everything for you!

Showcasing a rich profusion of businesswomen representing all sides of the technology spectrum, this program is set apart largely because of its primary focus on assisting minority females. The summit is designed for both adults and youth who are interested in the tech field and in advancing their technology careers. 

In addition to the standard workshops, discussions, keynote speakers, and networking opportunities, the WITS also sponsors an online non-profit organization, TechGirlz, built to empower adolescent young women interested in exploring possible opportunities in the tech world. 

“Our vision is to create a world where girls have a lifelong passion and confidence in their use of technology throughout their careers.”

This highly sought-out workshop is backed by an exclusive virtual module titled Techshopz, which offers a wide range of information created for the advancement of minority youth in every realm of modern technology. Moreover, all proceeds go toward new tools, up-to-date interactive curriculums and creative apps for Techshopz, and the continued progression of the WITS brand.
