Goodr is continuing to reach new heights!
Last week, CEO and founder Jasmine Crowe announced the rollout of the company’s expansion. With Denver Public Schools, Goodr opened the first of six new grocery stores.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Crowe stood beside Mayor Michael B. Hancock and Superintendent Dr. Marrero.
Back in September 2021, Goodr opened its first grocery store. As previously reported by AfroTech, Crowe teamed up with Gunna to open the store at McNair Middle School in College Park, GA.
Over 900 students have exclusive access to food, clothing, and hygiene products.
Crowe aims to take things to the next level next year.
“In 2023 I want 50 stores across the country – we are at the beginning of a journey to disrupt this model and I am ready for this fight,” Crowe wrote in an Instagram post. “Students all across America deserve to equitably engage in their learning opportunities instead of wondering where their next meal is coming from. No teacher can teach through hunger! We’ll continue to bring solutions to cities and school districts across this country.”
Cognizant of the impact hunger has on learning, Crowe is adamantly working to support students and their families.
“I also learned about the struggles that these kids are having in school and how food really helps them,” Crowe shared with AfroTech in an interview in October 2021. “So many of the teachers [were] coming up to us and saying, ‘I have kids coming in and they don’t even know when they’re going to eat again, and I can hear their stomachs growling in the classroom.’ Just being able to now say, ‘Let me take you to the grocery store and get you something’ is just life-changing for them. I felt like this was something that I knew, but to hear it from the teachers and staff is amazing.”
